Meet Robert Collin: A Journey of Purpose, Resilience, & Climate Action
I recently had the opportunity to connect with Robert Collin, and our conversation turned into something far more enriching than I had anticipated. What started as a simple social media connection blossomed into a three-hour Zoom chat filled with profound insights about life, purpose, and the environment. From the beginning, it was clear that Robert embodies the essence of resilience, adaptability, and connection—qualities that are central to his work and life philosophy.
One of the key themes that emerged from our conversation was the idea of connectivity. Whether it's about the environment, climate change, or even something as unexpected as basketball, Robert sees how everything in life is intertwined. He believes in the power of commonality—how, despite our differences, we all share a common purpose in navigating life’s challenges.
Robert’s academic background is impressive, with multiple degrees including a BS, a Law degree, and a Master’s. His accomplishments are endless: he’s been appointed to advisory commissions, contributed to encyclopedias and law reviews, and taught countless students. His success is a testament to the dedication and hard work he’s put into his fields of interest. However, it's not just about his achievements; it’s about his mission to inspire and make meaningful change.
A major highlight of our conversation was learning about Robert’s upcoming book, The Climate Adaptation Generation: A Blueprint for the Future. This book was recently awarded the Best Climate Change Book in the U.S. for 2025, and it is set to make waves in the world of environmental sustainability. The book outlines strategies for adapting to climate change and creating a resilient future, addressing a topic that is more urgent than ever.
But beyond his work in climate action, Robert also shares a passion for connecting with people on a deeper level. Both he and I are involved with Rick Della Ratta’s Jazz for Peace, a project focused on reaching out to Elders. It’s these personal connections that truly seem to energize Robert, reminding us all of the power of building relationships grounded in common goals and shared purpose.
As I reflect on our conversation, one thing is clear: Robert Collin is a person who not only talks about change but actively works toward it. His journey is a reminder that resilience, purpose, and connection are at the heart of creating a better world.
